AESL is offering a canning class for beginners or those who need a refresher course that will include instruction and hands on training in a semi commercial kition at The historic AESL micro farm in Desoto Texas.

In this class you will learn:
- Proper washing preparation of veggies for the canning process
- Proper washing and special preparation for meats for removal of “all,” contaminates
- About all the tools needed for the canning process.
- Hands on training you will need for the entire canning process.
In this class you will particate in one of the following:
- You will cut veggies for canning
- You will help us cook two large pots of our famous vegetable/Hamburg soup that the whole family will love and cherish for years to come.
- You will learn a simple recipe for corn bread that can be served with the soup as a full meal you are rushed for time
- You will help and watch us pre-pare glass jars, lids, etc for the canning process.
- You will be shown how to use a pressure cooker the right way.
- You will help us to properly clean our tools as we are waiting for the pressure cooker to finish enjoying a small bowl of our soup and corn bread.
- How to take your soup out of the pressure cooker in a safe way and learn how to safely transfer, cool and store your canned goods.
Time of class:
- It is every Thursday except the second week is on Saturday.
