How It Works

First of all, our system works!

This may seem presumptuous to say, but our system works very well, it is easy to set up, and may be one of the fastest ways to learn about aquaponics and earth systems with a minimal investment. This system can even be set up in a small back yard barn, garage, or greenhouse! I want to make a point here: there are many systems out there and many different ways to build such systems, but our focus is on being economical and on making it easy to use. We have a model that can expand like a Lego® system. You can learn about the more elaborate systems later; however, our simple system can also become as elaborate as you want. The key with our cycle of life system is that you will learn the basics!

Many people try to build “too big, too fast” with no knowledge of aquaponics, and in doing so they waste a lot of time and money, even when they are trying to save money. For example, I keep receiving YouTube alerts about this from Google. One person that I saw in these videos started with a simple barrelponics system; however, after watching several homemade videos of his, I noticed that this guy keeps adding new pumps and gadgets without explaining them what they are for. He also has a lot of hesitation in his voice as to whether what he is doing will work or not, and he always says he will tell you in the next video. Don’t follow people like this.

There are many consultants out there who will charge you a lot of money to come and get an aquaponics system up and going, but you should ask to see their own fish farm first. You will find that most don’t even have a working setup, or they no longer have one. My wife and I paid good money to visit such a place. It is important to work with people who have a history of success in an area of aquaponics. Our success is this: our system is economical, powerful, repairable, duplicatable, and very quick to set up and get going.

If you follow our pattern you will learn about aquaponics. However, you cannot cut too many corners because we have already left out everything you don’t need; doing so will compromise your success. We often tell people that it is best to follow our system guidelines. You will learn how to keep the fish alive, how to breed fish (we have three different ways), and how to sex and sort the fish into grow-out tanks. Then you will learn to use the nutrient-rich water to fertilize crops. We have an order in our system that keeps first things first. We advocate adding on to your aquaponics system only after you have mastered the basics.

Our model is small, but it represents all you need to build a commercial system.

The Inside of the Greenhouse

One of our greenhouses is only 24 x 13 x 7. This one greenhouse contains about 14 tanks of various sizes, from brood tanks and fry tanks, to fingerling and juvenile tanks. We also have a sorting system in place once the fish are in the juvenile stage to be put out in grow-out tanks for harvesting. This system works so well that many of our interns will be able to start a tilapia farm and garden system of their own very quickly. We have taken all the confusing parts out; it’s so basic!

In the future we will have several ways to learn about our system:

1. Soon we will start a course on the internet that will explain our entire system for a small fee. The fees will help us to establish our farms at orphanages at no cost to them.

2. We are also going to have a sign up sheet online to receive FREE informative articles; however, they will not be as elaborate as our online university.

3. Over-the-phone consultation

4. On site consultation

5. Visits and or short term internships on our farm

If you desire to learn more about our system, please sign up on the form we have under “contact us.”

Note: We are a non-profit organization raising  funds for orphanage projects. You can have the satisfaction of knowing that when you buy from us you will save time and invest in the fatherless.
