SECRET TO SUCCESSFUL AQUAPONICS
If someone were to ask me, what is the #1 SECRET you can share with me about successful Aquaponics? Please tell me John. Well, here it is!
I borrow the thoughts of the masters, but this is my answer to this very important question. We have made a very important discovery in this field of study.
IN A NUTSHELL THE GREAT SECRET TO SUCCESFUL AQUAPONICS (drum roll)
“The secret to successful Aquaponics is to “NEVER” forget that you are creating (facilitating) an interdependent ecosystem! If you separate the necessary components or start adding artificial and or toxic ingredients to “life” or, if you forget that in an ecosystem, our supreme role to facilitate fragile microscopic life forms, then your Aquaponics system will fail!” jhm
THE BIG AND LITTLE PICTURE
This is the big picture and the little picture all in one! I encourage you to copy and paste this, to put in on a card and memorize it. Give it to your interns or co-workers.
To me Aquaponics means we are coming back to facilitating life. It’s a statement to the world that we are tired of killing and destroying our planet! I believe this is one of the reasons why Aquaponics had to come, it’s survival for the planet. I know this is radical talk, but it is what I believe.
MICROSCOPIC BENEFICIAL LIFE FORMS ARE PROTECTED ON OUR FARM!
This is the basis of our “cycle of life” 1/10 acre farm, to be able to see the invisible microscopic creatures we end up killing on our farms with sprays and harsh chemical fertilizers. I had to see this invisible world in my mind early when I went 100% organic; I wanted to understand how they live, eat, and thrive! What makes them real happy — so I can “CO”-operate with them. This is a key and bottom line, not only for organic gardening, but Aquaponics.
I would really encourage you to mediate upon this most foundational law of life today and look at your system with this all prevailing thought in mind. Things will begin to change in your way of doing things. Even by the kind of water hoses you use to distribute your water or the nets that you use and how you dry or handle them after use. Some people have a $2,000 Aquaponics system and put water into their tanks with a $5 toxic hose. No! Think of the eco system as your best friend for successful Aquaponics and things will change!
Yours for sustainability- John Musser

The key to you gaining more wisdom and understanding is by you becoming a river of life to others. Freely you have received freely give.
